Tuesday: For lunch today, several veteran teachers took a few newbies to a Scottish-themed restaurant in Richmond Hill called Molly McPhearson. A Scottish coat of arms hung outside the door. Inside, several tartans of clans were displayed on the wall: McDonald, Robertson, and one other. The menu included one of my childhood favorites, Scotch Broth soup. My mother served soup a lot during my growing up years, and Scotch Broth was top on my list, along with Habitant pea soup. Today I worried that soup would be too salty for a 100-degree day, so I decided on the "Mildred" sandwich. The chicken pot pie on the menu also sounded very tempting. We ate those a lot in my family. The women beside me ordered meat-filled scones which looked mouthwatering. The menu contained a short narrative describing how the restaurant's owners, Debbie and someone else, had created it in honor of their widowed Scottish great-grandmother who had owned a pub in Scotland in the 1890's and had passed down her special Scottish recipes to her children, grandchildren, and now, great-grandchildren. I learned there is another branch of Molly McPhearson in Savannah at City Market, and I will take Liberto there as soon as possible. He would love the cuisine.
This morning, all the teachers in the county attended a convocations. There were several awards ceremonies, and one of the categories was Perfect Attendance. Each teacher with perfect attendance was awarded a check for $300! Hey! Last year, I had perfect attendance at Groves. Where's my $300 check from them? Oh, I'm sure it's in the mail, ha ha.
