Love the weekends

Jan.27, Sunday night. I do love the weekends. Who doesn't, I guess? Saturday morning, we slept all the way till 8:30. Of course, I got much more sleep than he did; I almost always fall asleep by 9:00 o'clock in front of whatever movie we've rented. Eyes grow heavy, stress of the week floats up and out of my body, and my head rocks forward into a deep sleep. Eventually I wake up, stagger to the bedroom, and fall into bed. L. can't sleep before 12 or 1. What was on the big screen Friday night? Don't remember.

Saturday morning I went to the gym, then returned and made my reservations to visit J. and J. in Toronto during my spring break in April. The school schedule this year has the teachers coming in for a staff planning day on the first day of spring break, can you believe...! However, there must have been a county-wide outcry because it was announced that teachers could swap that work day for a personal day, if we have any (we get 3 a year and in four years, I have never used one) or come in one more day at the end of the school year.

L. and I went to see Atonement in the afternoon, which was all about deep remorse for transgressions against others. In the story, a pre-teen girl who didn't understand sexuality, was jealous of her older sister's relationship with a young man, and falsely accused the man of raping a cousin. He was wrongly jailed, then later released into the British Army for World War II. The pre-teen girl grew up,realized her motives for lying, and wanted to make it right. But the sister had cut off family ties, and the man was on the continent fighting in the war. That's all I'll say, so as not to spoil the ending for any future viewers. At home, the three of us watched the rental Superbad, which was laugh-out-loud funny.

This morning, I went to the gym again, then mostly spent the rest of the day getting lesson plans ready, with necessary handouts. L. and I drove out to do an errand. It was a beautiful, clear day. Well, time to retire--hah! I just meant for the night.
